Technology changes at a dizzying pace. New apps and web sites hit the real estate market seemingly every week. These apps and sites are cool and usually easy to use – especially while you are sitting in bed at 3 am and can’t sleep – but they are no substitute for an experienced real estate agent. The listing information on many web sites is outdated and stale, since they “scrape” their listings rather than get a direct feed from the MLS like my site KayPratt.com. These sometimes large sites also don’t take into account local conditions. For example, Zillow is not going to know that a golf course in a particular neighborhood just closed. Or that an Interstate highway is being planned along a particular route. Or that a large employer recently announced a move to the OKC metro area, meaning jobs and home prices will be going up in a particular area.
So by all means use the technology available to you when searching for your home, but remember, your most valuable, experienced and trusted resources is right here ready to help you find the best home for you and your family.
