Great article today in USA Today about how Generation Y – people who were born from 1982-2001 – is just now ready to start purchasing homes, and what they are looking for in a home. According to the article, GenY members have delayed home purchases because of student debt, the economy, and the tight job market. Those factors are now easing and people in their late 20’s are now ready to purchase a home.
What these high tech GenY home buyers are looking for is somewhat different than their parents. According to the article, the new home buyers want open living spaces, no wasted space such as formal living rooms, and they want high tech features in their homes such as WiFi, flat screen TV’s and rooms dedicated to functions such as video games and home theatre.
