We always like these quick video clips showing the Edmond City Manager’s report. They are quick, concise, short, and to the point, and we don’t have to attend the city council meeting! It is a good way to stay abreast of what is going on with the city council. In this month’s report, Mr. Stevens tells us the Edmond Softball Complex on Route 66 east of I-35 is close to completion. It seems some thieves stole the copper from the complex (we hate thieves) and contractors should have the damage repaired in time for the mid-March opening. The cost of the project was $6 million, funded through a 2000 capital improvement sales tax and a parks and recreation tax. The Boulevard street resurfacing project is nearly done. The next street resurfacing project will be at the Overbrook Addition, just northeast of 2nd Street and Santa Fe. All 2015 street overlay repaving projects are projected to be completed before summer 2015. Mr. Stevens also gave an update on the public safety headquarters building project in downtown Edmond. The estimated completion date is August 2015. The project is 65% complete now. Sales tax collections through the end of January were 4.6% ahead of last year, which is a healthy growth, especially considering the uncertainties with the oil industry.
